Madera CA junior Unique Ford became only the eighth female runner in meet history to break 18 minutes, winning the 3-mile girls varsity large school race at the 34th Santa Clarita Valley Cross Country Invitational at Castaic Lake, Calif. Ford clocked 17:58.95 for Madera, which also had Linda Perez finish ninth, Julia Martinez place 23rd, Alejandra Alonso secure 36th, Jasmine Castillo earn 40th, Paola Sanchez take 51st and Evelyn Zambrano in 66th place to take runner-up to Saugus CA by a 67-76 margin.
